BIOGRAPHY

Francisco Mateus first built is professional path first at the Institute of Vine and Wine (Ministry of Agriculture). He later acted as Portugal’s representative at various European Union institutions (Commission and Council), having been part of the team that, in Brussels, supported the negotiation of the reform of the 2008 Common Market Organization (CMO) legislative package. He went on to being responsible for monitoring national programs of community support for the wine sector and, in this context, for managing the measure to support the promotion of wine in third countries. He has been the chairman of CVR Alentejana since November 2015, with the mission of implementing the strategic plan for Alentejo Wines 2014-2020, strengthening their position in the national market and achieving recognition of the “Alentejo” category in international markets reference groups. As of 2017, CVR Alentejana has embraced Sustainability as an intrinsic part of its activity. Francisco holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Agro-food Industries (Wine branches) and a degree in Management (applied to agricultural cooperatives), by the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém, a Public Management Training Program, by the Instituto Nacional de Administração and a Business Management Program, by AESE / IESE Business School at the University of Navarra.
