Lanchester Wines

We are a sustainable wine business and believe it’s our duty to preserve our planet.

Lanchester Wines is one of the UK’s leading supplier of quality wines and spirits to the trade, successfully operating and innovating across every element of UK wine import and export.

Established in 1980, we’ve never lost focus on what’s important and that’s consistently over-delivering on quality and service. We have over 3,000 product lines providing our customers with wines and spirits to meet every requirement, from premium ranges to award-winning house wines and everything in between. Our products are relevant and credible, and we’re very good at what we do selling around 3 million cases of wine each year.

We’re an independent, family-owned business which allows us to focus on delivering quality products and service over dividends, and to be both flexible and fast moving in line with the ever changing wine sector.

We are a sustainable wine business and believe it’s our duty to preserve our planet, which is why we’ve invested £8m in developing clean, renewable energy and heat generation for our offices and warehouses which greatly reduces our business’ carbon footprint.

Our sister company is Greencroft Bottling Company Ltd.

Greencroft Bottling is one of the largest contract wine bottlers in the UK, working with some of the world’s leading wine companies. We pride ourselves on our outstanding quality and attention to detail.

Continuous investment in our filling lines has given us the capability to fill up to 90,000 bottles and boxes of wine per hour, which is equal to around 200 million liters per year.

Our seven lines enable Greencroft Bottling to pack a range of products in a variety of formats including:

Glass: 18.7cl, 37.5cl, 50cl, 70cl, 75cl, 1l, 1.5l

PET: 18.7cl, 75cl, 1l

Bag-in-box: 2.25 liter, 3 liter and 18 liter

Pouches: 1.5 liter and 2.25 liter

We have started installation of a new canning line which will initially focus on 200ml and 250ml slimline can formats. We are expecting the first production later this summer (2019).

The quality of our finished product needs to be of the highest possible standard, a task our QA team works hard to achieve and maintain. Our onsite lab uses two Foss Winescan machines to analyze wine at various stages during the wine handling process. The machines measure levels of SO2, sugar, preservatives, acidity, color, ABV, clarity and PH. To learn more about Greencroft Bottling’ process, please click here.

Being a sustainable business is very important to us and our customers. We are predominantly powered by renewable wind energy generated on site from our own wind farm. We believe we are the only wind powered bottling facility on the planet. The bottles we fill are made from partly recycled glass and through our partners we recycle our waste and surplus packaging materials including plastic, cardboard, label reels, caps and glass.
