Särtshöga Vingård

A healthy soil is a prerequisite for all cultivation. What we take from the earth in the form of harvest, we add through compost and catch crops. Between the vines we grow plants that nourish the soil, bind carbon and attract bees, bumblebees and other insects. Our hens and roosters also contribute to soil health as they live freely in the vineyard and peck at pests while fertilizing.
SÄRTSHÖGA VINGÅRD COMPANY SUMMARY

Located close to Lake Vättern and the bird lake Tåkern, Särtshöga Vingård is a small vineyard in one of Sweden´s most fertile landscapes. We work with nature and strongly believe in biodiversity. To keep our soil healthy, and to attract insects and birds we use bio compost and intermediate crops. From pruning to harvest, the work is done by hand.

We use the Piwi-grape Solaris and make a sparkling wine using méthode traditionelle. The blend consists of wines from several years, perpetual reserve, together with wine fermented in old French oak barrels and steel tanks.

In 2012 we found Särtshöga, a beautiful little farm in the southern part of Sweden where nobody had grown vines before. So we decided to start a Vineyard. Today we have 2 hectares with the PIWI grape Solaris. A variety which is adapted to our climate and resistant against many deceases. And maybe best of all – the PIWI grapes doesn´t require chemical treatment.

We work with nature and try our best to practice regenerative viticulture.

To keep our soil healthy and to attract insects and birds we use bio compost, intermediate crops, a diversity of plants, flowers and trees, and of course our lovely chickens. From pruning to harvest, the work is done by hand. In the vinery we make a sparkling wine using méthode traditionelle, with a blend of wines from several years.
