COMPANY SUMMARY

González Byass is a family-owned collection of wineries which produces wine in some of Spain’s most famous regions, Chile and Mexico. In each of these regions the family strives to make the best possible quality wines respecting the local terroir and the environment.

From its foundation the González family have been dedicated to making fine Sherries and brandies in Jerez, Spain, creating such well-known brands as Tío Pepe Fino Sherry and Lepanto Brandy de Jerez.

Today the fifth generation of the family are the custodians of these exceptional brands having built the company into a family of wineries which produces wine in some of Spain’s most famous regions; Bodegas Beronia (Rioja and Rueda), Cavas Vilarnau (Barcelona), Finca Constancia (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla), Finca Moncloa (Vino de la Tierra de Cádiz), Viñas del Vero (Somontano),  Pazo de Lusco (Rías Baixas) and Dominio Fournier (Ribera del Duero). In 2016 the company expanded its reach outside of the Iberian Peninsula to include Viñedos Veramonte and Neyen in the Casablanca and Apalta Valleys in Chile and Casa Domecq in Mexico. At the same time the company has also expanded its interests further in the premium spirits business and has created pioneering brands such as The London No.1, MOM Gin and Nomad Outland Whisky.

The journey towards sustainability started in 1835, when the founder, Manuel María González, started a business based on the strong foundations of consistency, sustainability, quality and innovation. These values have been passed down over nearly two centuries to this day when the 5th generation of Manuel María’s family are still running the business and maintaining its sustainability on all levels.

Their passion for producing quality wines and spirits sustainably, respect for long- standing traditions -whilst at the same time innovating- have been the guiding principles that have led to the company’s global success.

Ten years ago González Byass formalized it’s sustainability initiative under one umbrella:

5+5: Caring for the planet. It represents the five generations of the González family that have led the company to the 21st century and the next five generations that will continue this mission based on work already done. It implies the level of commitment by González Byass to nature through the use of sustainable practices in all wineries and all areas of the company, from the vineyard to the winery, through suppliers, product design and distribution.
